How do I dispose of used syringes if I don't have a sharps container yet

Laundry detergent jug or empty bleach bottle. Heavy plastic, screw cap, opaque. Label with a sharpie "SHARPS - DO NOT RECYCLE." Transfer into proper container when it arrives. Never loose in trash.

Also: most cities have free sharps drop-off at pharmacies or health departments. Don't throw even the full detergent jug in regular trash.

yeah the detergent jug method works fine short term. just make sure it's actually opaque and you can't see through it, because if someone else in your house grabs it thinking it's still detergent that's a bad day. the pharmacy drop-off thing is legit too, most places take them no questions asked and it costs nothing.
