Thymosin Alpha-1 for winter — my third year and it's earning its slot

Background: used to get 3-4 significant respiratory illnesses every winter. Immune stuff that didn't show up on labs. Not enough to explain away, annoying enough to do something about.

Year 1 TA-1: 1.6mg SC twice weekly Oct-Mar. Zero illnesses that winter. N=1, could be anything. Year 2: repeated. One mild cold. Year 3: in progress. So far so good.

Is this peptide or is this everything else (handwashing, sleep, not hanging with unvaxxed toddlers)? I can't fully separate. But the effect has been consistent across three seasons and the cost is tolerable ($~120/mo during use).

Anyone using Thymulin instead? Or stacking KPV? Or cycled off TA-1 for a season to A/B?

TA-1 has real immune data in populations where it matters (hepatitis, post-chemo, certain cancers). Extrapolating to "prevents winter colds in healthy adults" is a stretch but your n=1 pattern over three years is worth taking seriously.

Thymulin is my alternative when TA-1 is unavailable or someone doesn't tolerate it. Less data but similar direction. KPV is different — that's more a gut/topical anti-inflammatory use case, not a general immune booster.

Ran TA-1 two winters. First winter: great. Second winter: got sick twice anyway. The effect might not be durable year to year, or there's a variable I'm not controlling.

To be honest this is one of the better-evidenced peptides for its claimed mechanism, even if the winter-colds application is off-label-off-label. I won't push back much here.

Used TA-1 post-heavy-training-block when I felt run down. Noticeable kick back to normal within a week. My use is more acute than seasonal.

Worth noting: TA-1 in immunocompromised patients should be guided by an actual clinician. Autoimmune history is a relative contraindication.

Good flag. I don't have AI history but anyone with Hashimoto's/RA/etc. should talk to someone before winging this.

No known interaction. They don't overlap mechanistically. Shouldn't be a concern.

Curious if TA-1 stacks with GLP-1 without issue. Running tirzepatide and don't want to screw with my immune recovery.

Chiming in quietly — agree that TA-1 is one of the few peptides where the mechanism story holds up in humans. Good post.

Running my first TA-1 season on the strength of this thread. Will report back next spring.

Year 2 here and had the same experience, went from catching everything to basically nothing. I'm not doing anything else different so either it's working or I got incredibly lucky twice. The thing that made me stick with it is that the cost is low enough that even if it's 30% placebo, who cares. Also been doing subq consistently so maybe that matters vs the people who try it once and bail.
