IGF-1 LR3 — who's actually running this and at what dose

IGF-1 LR3 is one of those compounds you see mentioned as a 'serious' peptide but almost no one talks honest doses and effects. Half the posts are either 'I'm running 100mcg daily' (unhinged) or 'it did nothing at 20mcg ED' (probably underdosed).

For those who've actually run this:

  • Dose range you settled on?
  • Daily vs EOD vs post-workout only?
  • Hypoglycemia — how often, how bad, did you adjust diet?
  • Bloodwork changes — IGF-1 serum actually moves on LR3 or does it stay site-local?
  • Any nodule / nerve / organ concerns long-term?
  • What did you notice that made you think it was actually working (recovery? growth? sleep?)

Not looking for sourcing. Looking for honest n=1 on the compound.

Running it at all? I'd push back gently. The risk profile on LR3 — particularly the theoretical proliferative risk with extended use — is a different conversation than BPC or GHK-Cu. Not saying don't, saying do it with eyes open and a short cycle.

Split into bilateral injection sites to avoid the 'giant muscle on one side' effect people don't take seriously. LR3 is systemic enough that this matters less than with regular IGF-1 but site-local growth is still a thing at higher doses.

30mcg post-workout only, 4-5x/week, 8 week cycle. Serum IGF-1 bumped ~20% which surprised me (LR3 isn't supposed to move serum much but at the upper dose range it does). Strength went up, recovery was faster. Off for 12 weeks between cycles.

Hypo risk is real. I eat 30g fast carb within 5 min of the injection. Never had a bad episode but I've felt the pre-hypo warning twice — tunnel vision, sweat. Take it seriously.

Good data points. My plan was 20mcg post-workout, 4 days/week, 6 week cycle with full washout. Sounds like that's conservative enough given the replies here.

The long-term proliferative concern isn't theoretical if you have any family history of IGF-sensitive cancers. Colorectal and prostate specifically. If you have that history, this isn't the compound for you.

LR3 vs DES-IGF: DES has a shorter half-life and tends to stay more site-local. If you want the localized effect, DES. If you want the systemic boost, LR3. They're different tools.

The strength bump is real on LR3 for me. The mass bump was less dramatic than the marketing suggests. Short cycles, big gaps. Anyone running this year-round is playing a different game.

Pull fasting glucose + insulin + HbA1c before and after cycle. Insulin sensitivity can shift meaningfully and it's worth seeing.

The honest bar for running this: do you have hypertrophy goals that standard MPS stacks + training can't hit? If no, this isn't for you. Proliferative peptides shouldn't be the first tool out of the box.

Honestly the whole "systemic vs site-local" thing gets way oversold. LR3 binds IGF-1 receptors regardless, and if you're injecting it subq your body's gonna process it however it processes it. The half-life extension is real but I've never seen convincing bloodwork that shows serum IGF actually stays elevated for days like people claim. Most of the "gains" I've seen on this are just from people actually eating and training hard for once, then attributing it to the peptide. That said if it's working for you then cool, but don't kid yourself about what's really happening.

Ran it at 50mcg daily for 8 weeks and honestly the recovery was noticeable but not life-changing. Didn't have hypo issues until week 5 or 6, then I had to dial in carbs around training and it went away. My serum IGF actually did move up on bloodwork, it wasn't just local, so goal_driven's take doesn't line up with what I saw. Strength went up clean, maybe 5-10 lbs on main lifts. Would run it again but not back to back, too many variables to track long term and I don't trust the safety profile past a couple cycles a year.
