Caloric surplus debate while on GH stack
43 posts
Reading a lot of conflicting stuff. Some say you have to be in a surplus to see gains from a GH/IGF stack. Others say it partitions even in deficit. I've been trying to recomp at maintenance and I don't know if that's the right call.
Currently: 5-day-on 2-off ipa/CJC, decent but not great gains. Am I leaving meat on the table by not bulking?

Partitioning is real but it's not magic. You'll still gain faster in a 200-cal surplus than at true maintenance. Peptides tilt the ratio, they don't overturn thermodynamics.

Context matters — how lean are you, how trained are you, how old. Lean-and-trained at 40 can recomp at maintenance. Untrained or already fluffy, you won't.

Protein at 1g/lb minimum, carbs around training, fat fills the rest. If you're not hitting those basics the stack is doing half the work it could.

100-150 above maintenance, slow, patient. Bulking hard while on GH just gets you fluff and insulin resistance.

Re-DEXA at 8 weeks not just re-panel. Scale weight is noise on a small surplus.

honestly the recomp at maintenance thing works but it's slow as hell. you're basically relying on the GH to do all the heavy lifting on body comp while your muscles aren't getting the raw materials to actually grow. small surplus like the guy said, 100-150 over, lets the GH partition way better and you'll actually see noticeable size changes instead of just wondering if anything happened in 8 weeks. maintenance recomp is more for people already lean trying to stay lean, not for actually building.
